Sovereign Tower Archetypes and the Endings They Open
The one number that decides your ending
Everything you do as sovereign feeds four style scores: Tyrannic, Audacious, Kind and Wise. Reaching the third level of any one of them is its own achievement, A Chosen Path.
At the Emperor’s ultimatum, the game looks at whichever of the four you have the most points in and offers you a matching set of responses. Nothing else at that moment matters as much — not your treasury, not how many counties you allied, not who you romanced.
What each branch opens
| Your top style | Endings offered |
|---|---|
| Wise | War, Peace, Surrender, War (extended), Tower Destruction |
| Audacious | War, Marry, Peace (with the Golden Key), Tower Destruction |
| Kind | War, Surrender, Peace (with the Golden Key), Tower Destruction |
| Tyrannic | War, War (extended), Tower Destruction |
| No dominant style | War, Tower Destruction |
Three things follow from that table.
Wise is the most flexible branch. Four of the five endings, including both Peace and Surrender, without needing the Golden Key to reach Peace.
Marry is Audacious-only. No other branch offers it. If you want the ending where you propose to the Emperor and merge the two realms, you have to have played an audacious reign — and it resolves inside the conversation with no final quest.
Being a centrist is a trap. If no style passes 10 points, or all four end up level, you are offered only war or bringing the tower down. This is the failure state most players do not see coming, because moderation reads as good play in almost every other management game.
Pick a lane early
The practical advice is short: decide roughly what kind of ruler you are inside the first act, and then let that decide your dialogue rather than optimising each choice locally. Spreading points evenly across four styles across forty cycles is exactly how you arrive at the ultimatum with nothing above 10.
Two branches also interact with recruiting. Audacity gates two recruits outright — breaking Epicrate out of custody, and Brunhilda’s rewind route through Mathilda both require enough of it. If you are playing Audacious anyway, those come cheaply. If you are not, they cost you a rewind. Every recruit route →
What the archetype does not decide
- It does not decide the demon epilogue. That reads corruption — one point per rewind — and is a separate reading taken at the same moment. How corruption works →
- It does not decide the character slides. Those read romance, evolutions, deaths, and which ending you picked — not which branch you were on.
- It does not lock you out of War or Tower Destruction. Those two are available from every branch, including the no-dominant-style one.
